The blepharoplasty is performed under local anaesthetic. Excess skin on the upper lid (sometimes together with fat and muscle tissue) is removed and the incision is sutured with very thin surgical thread. The incision is in the natural crease of the eyelid, and is therefore hardly visible. In case of the lower lids, surgery is performed from the inside.

After the operation the eyes are more open and larger giving the face a more youthful and fresher appearance.

The upper and lower eyelid plasty can be performed together with a facelift.
