Breast enlargement (breast augmentation) is purely a cosmetic procedure. During surgery the implants are placed either under or over the pectoral muscle. There are three possibilities for the incision: underneath the breast, underneath the nipple, in the armpit area. The 5-6 centimetre long scars are hardly visible. Even in today’s highly advanced time implants don’t last forever, they have to be changed every 10-15 years. Preventative cancer checks (ultrasound, mammography) can be performed normally. After breast augmentation, regular examinations are vital in order to determine that the implants are as they should be.
