Botox injections are used against mimical wrinkles (laugh lines) and excessive sweating. Most facial wrinkles occur due to the aging of the skin or from sun exposure. However in some cases very active mimical muscles mark the face. Frown lines and crows feet cannot be treated by using implants, peeling or laser treatments.
The Botox substance in a very low concentration is injected into the relevant muscles with very fine needles. The result of the treatment is not visible immediately and it may take a few days for the treated muscles to loose their movement ability. Wrinkles and lines disappear after 2 weeks. There is no recovery phase, swelling and redness is rare.
If Botox is used against excessive sweating, it is injected into the sweat glands, which as a result stop functioning.
The effect lasts 3-6 month and the procedure can be repeated at any time. With increasing number of treatments the results may be visible longer, sometimes up to a year.
